Welcome Envoy
Therapeutics is a new company, and we haven’t created our website yet. Instead, we’ve been focused on discovering
new medicines for people suffering from neurological and psychiatric
diseases. Please check back in the
future if you want to see our website. Meanwhile,
with exclusive rights to a powerful technology developed at Rockefeller
University, and an exceptional team of neuroscientists, we are beginning to
make rapid and efficient progress toward our goal of bringing new medicines
to market. Our
technology combines innovative genetic engineering with new molecular biology
techniques for labeling and extracting the protein-making components of
specific types of cells. This
technology is enabling our scientists to make breakthrough discoveries by
identifying and measuring proteins that are specifically produced by cells
that are important to a particular disease without requiring the isolation of
those cells. Capability like this has
never before existed. We’re Focused On
the Brain Our
technology is especially powerful in tissues of the brain, where up to a
thousand cell types are intermingled and where until now, therapeutically
modulating the activity of a specific cell type has been prevented by the
inability to determine which proteins are uniquely expressed by that cell
type. Our technology enables
scientists to compare both the assortment and the levels of proteins produced
by certain types of cells with other types of cells, and to understand
precisely in specific cell types how genes and proteins are expressed
differently in response to different drugs. We
have already used our technology on a large scale to discover proteins that
are highly produced in cell types known to be important to five diseases: schizophrenia, Parkinson’s Disease,
Alzheimer’s Disease, drug addiction and epilepsy. Many of these identified proteins belong to
protein classes whose activity has been demonstrated to be modifiable by
drugs. As a result, the manipulation
of these new “target proteins" holds great promise for providing the
mechanisms by which new drugs will help patients in the future. In
addition to these targets that we have already discovered, we have resources
in place that will enable us to pursue targets for seven additional diseases:
anxiety, depression, sleep, pain,
obesity, autism and attention deficit hyperactivity disorder. Founding Team Envoy
has three highly recognized scientific founders, including Nobel Laureate and
National Academy of Sciences member Paul Greengard, PhD.; Howard Hughes
Medical Institute Investigator Nathaniel Heintz; and National Academy of
Sciences member and Howard Hughes Medical Institute Investigator, Jeffrey
Friedman, M.D., PhD, who was also a scientific founder of Millennium
Pharmaceuticals. These
scientific founders bring great expertise in disciplines vital to Envoy’s
missions including the biochemical regulation of brain cells and
neurotransmitter receptors, the molecular mechanisms involved in obesity,
body weight, appetite and fat storage, and the engineering of bacteria
artificial chromosomes (BACs) by homologous recombination and transgenic
technology. Our fourth founder and
CEO, Brad Margus, is a seasoned executive with a strong track record in
starting and building science based organizations, protecting new
discoveries, raising capital, and partnering repeatedly with many of the
world’s largest pharmaceutical companies. Our Business We
expect to create substantial shareholder value by: · identifying
new, medically important, target proteins, · building
a portfolio of promising, proprietary new drugs that modulate those proteins
and fill unmet medical needs, · demonstrating
repeatedly the enormous power of our technology platform, and · delivering
successful results with a select number of partnerships with global
pharmaceutical companies. We’re
passionate about creating and exploiting our completely new and unique drug
discovery engine. For more
